Being a happy owner of the dcd-1600ne since a few weeks, I will give you my first impressions of this player who replaced my Yamaha bd-s681 universal disc player in my 2 channels system. First of all I must say that this unit is very well built. The disc tray feels solid (unlike some players costing a lot more).

Feb 6, 2022 · Denon DCD-1600NE: Per Brandon at Crutchfield on 2/8/2022: "The Denon DCD-1600NE plays native 1-bit DSD @ 2.8224 MHz so it is not converted to PCM. The SACD playback is only supported via the player’s analog outputs, the players digital outputs will not transmit an SACD or DSD audio signal, and are only compatible with PCM."
Marantz 30N SACD player (as well as the SA-KI and SA-10)
Feb 13, 2021 · It's hard to describe the difference, but in a nutshell, the sound of the 30N is a bit tighter and truer sounding with better clarity/separation and with lower jitter and better tonality in the sense that it is a little less 'colored' and more natural sounding than the ND8006. The SACD playback of the 30N is superb.

Oct 20, 2020 · The ones that come to mind are the Arcam CDS50, Yamaha CD-S1000 and the Denon DCD-1600NE. I can't really decide amongst the three. I don't really need the Arcam's wifi capabilities. I plan to play my SACDs in DSD using analogue to my NAD D3045 and my PSB Alpha P5 bookshelf speakers. Thanks for your advice/suggestions!

Apr 24, 2023 · The Denon on paper has the better DAC being a 32 bit DAC, however, I'm not sure that matters for a player with no USB input for music files anyway, the Yamaha DAC is more than sufficient (192/24) for CD playback. I have an upscaling CD player (Technics SL-G700) which will upscale a CD similar to what the Denon does.

I shelled out $1,000 for one and still have it in my closest of misfit and disregarded electronics toys. I replaced it with an Oppo 83 at half the cost and twice the functionality.
