A high school sophomore is hospitalized after suffering a traumatic brain injury during a Thanksgiving football game, school and police officials told the community in an open letter on Saturday.

A Thanksgiving football game between Oliver Ames and Sharon High School was called with two minutes left in the first half due to a medical emergency.

Rohan Shukla sustained a “traumatic brain injury” during the game and was sent to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton and then to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, according to a Sharon Police Department Facebook post. The game ended as his trainer, coaches and emergency personnel responded to the incident.
