Texas baseball has an opportunity to score its second series sweep of the season when it finishes its three-game set with Santa Clara on Sunday. The Longhorns (12-1) have ridden strong pitching performances to victories in the first two games of the series.

No. 12 Texas ran its record to 13-1 with a sweep of Santa Clara, capped by a 6-1 win Sunday at UFCU-Disch Falk Field. The Longhorns beat the Broncos 4-2 in the series opener Friday and followed that with an 8-3 victory Saturday.

As a sluggish start for the Texas Longhorns left them with a one-run lead through five innings, a poised defensive performance kept the Santa Clara Broncos at bay in Sunday’s 6-1 win. The victory completed the Longhorns’ second home series sweep and propelled Texas to its best start of the season since 2005 as the team sits at 13-1.
