Late Congress MP Vasant Chavan's son Ravindra Chavan won the Nanded Lok Sabha bypoll defeating his nearest rival Santukrao Hambarde of BJP by 1,457 votes. Chavan polled 5,86,788 votes while Hambarde got 5,85,331 votes. The bypoll was necessitated due to the death of sitting MP Vasant Chavan on August 26.

The Congress on Saturday managed to win the Nanded Lok Sabha seat in Maharashtra. the party, however, lost all the Assembly seats to BJP and Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena.

The bypolls for Nanded Lok Sabha seat was necessitated due to the sudden death of Vasantrao who had defeated sitting BJP MP Pratap Patil Chikhalikar by a handsome margin of over 59,000 votes.

BJP's Santukrao Hambarde is leading by a decisive margin of nearly 40,000 votes over Congress rival Ravindra Chavan, according to the Election Commission's latest figures

Congress candidate from Wayanad Lok Sabha by-polls, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is currently leading by over one lakh votes while the BJP has gained a lead on Nanded seat in Maharashtra, as per the early trends of the Election Commission.

In a significant development, the Congress party won the Nanded Lok Sabha seat in bypoll. The Congress party candidate Ravindra Vasantrao Chavan won the battle against the BJP contestant with the margin of 1457 votes.

BJP candidate Santukrao Hambarde is leading in the Nanded Lok Sabha bypoll. He is ahead of Congress candidate Ravindra Chavan by over 12,000 votes. The by-election was held following the death of Congress MP Vasant Chavan.
