New York Giants assistant head coach/offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, who underwent two rounds of interviews with the New Orleans Saints for their head coaching vacancy, including a nine-hour in-person second meeting,

If he doesn’t land the Saints job, there is a “strong sentiment” that the New York Giants will return play-calling duties to Mike Kafka.

Kafka is a finalist for the Saints head coaching job, having met with them in New Orleans for an in-person second interview. The Saints, after speaking with Kafka, flew to Philadelphia to meet with Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore and it appears Moore could be the favorite.

The Giants finished 30th overall (294.8 yards/game), 23rd in rushing (104.9 yards/game), and 28th in passing (189.9 yards/game), with head coach Brian Daboll calling the plays during the team’s 3-14 season.

He got second interview opportunities with Houston and Arizona in that coaching cycle.

The troubling downturn for the Giants and their offense the past two years seemingly has not touched or damaged Mike Kafka’s reputation.
