Gmail users have been warned by U.S. law enforcement of an ongoing attack targeting them with claims of a search history spyware hack.

The Florida Sheriff’s Association recently warned the public of a new online scam that threatens email users with releasing their search history if they don’t pay a large amount of money.

Imagine getting an email that contains your name, a picture of the front of your house and the words, “I’m watching your dirty behavior.” Maryland State Police are warning people about a blackmail scam.

Police say the scammer attempts to blackmail the victim into believing they have engaged in viewing pornography or the scammer has gained personal information that can be used against them.

An internet scam involving Gmail accounts that is currently active in Maryland, and State Police are urging you to be aware and take steps to protect yourself as well as report to authorities if you have been victimized.
