Boeing started issuing layoff notices Wednesday to 17,000 employees to cut 10% of its workforce in an effort to shore up the aerospace giant's shaky finances.

Boeing has issued layoff notices to 692 employees in Missouri state, according to a notice filed to Missouri’s Office of Workforce Development.

Employees in the Machinists Union returned to work Tuesday after a seven-week strike, and Boeing needs to start delivering airplanes again.
