Quinn Hughes scores 2 power-play goals as Canucks beat Oilers 3-2
VANCOUVER, British Columbia — Quinn Hughes scored two power-play goals and the struggling Vancouver Canucks beat the Edmonton Oilers 3-2 on Saturday night. Danton Heinen also scored and J.T. Miller had two assists as the Canucks won for just the second time in eight games (2-4-2). Thatcher Demko had 13 saves.
Leon Draisaitl scored twice and Stuart Skinner made 24 saves for the Oilers (29-14-3), who lost for the first time in five games and second in the past 10 (8-2-0).
The Canucks have struggled since the holiday break. Returning stars should help as the schedule turns difficult.
The Canucks' best player on Saturday night may not even be part of the team on Sunday. All the conjecture made J.T. Miller's performance against the Oilers even more impressive and poignant.
