This summer in Europe has been characterised by extreme weather, with blistering heatwaves in Greece and storms in Switzerland, Italy and France in July alone.

A massive floodwave moving across Central Europe is threatening new areas and raising concerns among residents and leaders.

Central Europe began counting the cost of deadly and devastating floods caused by Storm Boris, as the European Union pledged billions of euro in aid to affected countries and northern Italy became the latest area to be inundated by torrential rain.

After causing historic floods in central Europe, Storm Boris continues to bring devastating weather. With heavy rain now across northern areas of Italy, there is a continued risk of flooding. Red warnings for flooding and landslides have been issued for eastern Emilia- Romagna.
