Hundreds of homeowners in England and Wales were battling floodwaters after the second major storm of the winter brought widespread disruption to the U.K.

More flooding is “likely” this week after Storm Bert brought torrential rain over the weekend, the Environment Secretary said. Steve Reed said its impacts “should be less severe” than they were on Sunday and Monday morning. It comes as communities in England and Wales were starting a “massive clean-up” following the widespread flooding.

Storm Bert continues to cause disruption after torrential downpours caused “devastating” flooding at the weekend. Many parts of Wales are counting the cost of the storm, with a major incident declared in Rhondda Cynon Taf on Sunday, 24 November, amid fears of a more significant impact than the devastation of Storm Dennis in 2020.
