Iowa U.S. senators Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst joined Republican colleagues to block a bill by Democrats that would establish a federal right to access fertility treatments.
U.S. Senate Democrats said they were trying to protect in vitro fertilization in a bill that failed to get enough votes on Tuesday.
The Senate will vote for the second time this year on legislation to establish a nationwide right for in vitro fertilization.
Based on recent statements from Arizona's Senate candidates, only one of them would have voted for federal IVF protection.
