Arne Slot has called Saturday's shock 1-0 loss at home to Nottingham Forest a "big setback" for his Liverpool team.

Nottingham Forest tasted victory at Anfield for the first time since February 1969, as Nuno Espirito Santo’s side pulled off the most unexpected of victories. Only Manchester City now maintain a 100 per cent record in the English top flight and Liverpool must go back to the drawing board after Slot’s fine start at Anfield came to an abrupt end.

Liverpool’s effort was scrappy as passes went astray and touches were often missed. The players looked like they hadn’t seen each other for two weeks. The international break took away 10 players but manager Arne Slot said that was no excuse. “It’s always difficult, but I don’t think it had anything to do with it,” Slot said.
