The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Mahayuti alliance secured a landslide victory in Maharashtra and the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-led INDIA bloc stormed back to power in Jharkhand.

Hemant Soren, leader of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), will be sworn in as Chief Minister of Jharkhand on November 26, as per sources.

Mr. Soren will be sworn in as the 14th Chief Minister of Jharkhand, which was carved out of Bihar on November 15, 2000.

After registering a decisive victory in the Jharkhand Assembly elections, Hemant Soren is set to take oath as Chief Minister on Monday, sources said.

Jharkhand rejected BJP's attempts to win elections by ramping up polarising narratives. BJP tried this in 2019 and again in the recent elections. Both times, Jharkhand chose Hemant Soren as their leader.

In a show of strength, leaders of the INDIA alliance, comprising the JMM, the Congress, the RJD and the Left, reached the Raj Bhawan in Ranchi where the incumbent chief minister, Soren, tendered his resignation to assume the office once again.

JMM’s voter share was lesser than BJP’s. While the Hemant Soren-led party managed to get 23.44 per cent of the total votes polled, the saffron party bagged a considerably higher 33.18 per cent share

The Bharatiya Janata Party’s Champai Soren won the Jharkhand Assembly polls from the Seraikela constituency on Saturday by 20,447 votes. The former chief minister has served five terms as the MLA from Seraikela. He secured 1,19,379 of the total votes counted.

JMM chief Hemant Soren resigned from the current government on Sunday to stake claim for forming the next one. After meeting with the governor, Soren announced that the swearing-in ceremony for the chief minister and other ministers is scheduled for November 28.
