In a grand display of political strength and unity, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Hemant Soren on Thursday (November 28) was sworn in as the 14th Chief Minister of Jharkhand in a ceremony held in Ranchi.

Five days after registering a massive victory, Hemant Soren took oath as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand today.

Hemant Soren-led JMM steered the INDIA bloc to victory with 56 seats in the 81-member Jharkhand assembly. The JMM won 34 seats, while its allies secured 22 seats.

As preparations for his swearing-in ceremony were in full swing at Morabadi Ground in Ranchi, Jharkhand caretaker Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Kalpana Soren, his wife and now a fellow legislator, flew to New Delhi to invite senior INDIA bloc leaders for the event scheduled Thursday.

JMM’s voter share was lesser than BJP’s. While the Hemant Soren-led party managed to get 23.44 per cent of the total votes polled, the saffron party bagged a considerably higher 33.18 per cent share
