The Humane Society for Hamilton County is seeking some relief after a heating system failure in part of the facility, and the community is stepping up to help by fostering dogs and spreading the word.

The Dubois County Humane Society is reaching out for support after a furnace that heats the dog runs stopped working and a waterline burst flooding their back yard. According to a post on Facebook, donations will go towards fixing the furnace and excavating the waterlines.

Jennifer Perrigo says, "there is so much that the future holds for the Rutland County Humane Society and I'm just really excited to be a part of it".

James Cauthen, a 54-year-old fire chief with Coweta County Fire in Georgia, was shot and killed while helping drivers who hit a deer in Alabama. Julie McFadden has cared for over 100 patients in their final days.

The Fishers shelter is asking the public to come forward and foster animals while they make repairs during dangerous, brutal cold.

The shelter currently houses over 130 dogs, and with limited heated kennels available, it needs people who can foster a dog, even for just a few nights.
