Alabama is set to need a new tight ends coach. The current expectation is that Bryan Ellis, who spent two seasons coaching the Alabama tight ends, will shift to coaching quarterbacks in 2026, sources with knowledge of the situation told AL.com. Football Scoop first reported the news.

Alabama receiver Isaiah Horton plans to enter the transfer portal, he told On3 on Thursday. Horton spent one season with the the Crimson Tide after transferring from Miami. Horton caught 42 passes for 511 yards and eight touchdowns in 2025. That’s after a 2024 season in Miami where he secured 56 passes for 616 yards and five scores.
Alabama football is making an internal move to replace Nick Sheridan. Ellis has worked the past two seasons as head coach Kalen DeBoer's tight ends coach. A former UAB quarterback from 2007-11, Ellis was offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Western Kentucky in 2019 and 2020 after a stint as USC's quarterback coach for Clay Helton in 2018.
After making significant improvements offensively, the program has all the power to keep that momentum flowing into the spring. Alabama returns 13 players from last season while also adding six freshmen and two strong transfer additions, Brooke Wells (Houston) and Jena Young (Iowa).
