No. 4 South Carolina went on a 32-0 run in the first half and beat No. 15 Iowa State 76-36 in the Fort Myers Tip-Off on Thursday. The Gamecocks — playing for the first time since now-No. 1 UCLA snapped their 43-game winning streak on Sunday — held the Cyclones scoreless for nearly 15 straight minutes.

Dawn Staley’s No. 4 squad came out Thursday and simply smothered No. 15 Iowa State, burying the Cyclones early in a 76-36 victory to start the women’s portion of the Fort Myers Tip-off. The Gamecocks were coming off their first loss in 19 months.

Joyce Edwards and Sania Feagin led South Carolina with 13 points apiece. Edwards also had a team-high 11 rebounds. The Gamecocks limited Iowa State to 23% shooting (12 of 52) and the defensive pressure led to 19 turnovers. South Carolina will Purdue on Saturday (11 a.m., The Women Sports Network) at Suncoast Credit Union Arena.
