President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that Russia was ramping up drone production by around ten times to nearly 1.4 million this year in a bid to ensure the Russian armed forces win in Ukraine.

In 2023, the Russian army received about 140,000 drones of different types, according to Russian President Vladimir Putin. This year, Moscow is planning to produce 1.4 million, he claimed.

President Vladimir Putin announced on Thursday that Russia is set to increase its drone production nearly tenfold this year.

The drills at a Dutch military base, involving more than 20 countries and some 50 companies, tested cutting-edge systems to detect and counter drones and assessed how they work together.

The production rate of one-way Shahed-136 attack drones exceeds 500 units per month at a cost of about $100 million. Forbes estimates that Russia spends $1.1 billion a month on missile production, with a rate of 132-171 missiles.
