The U.S. has seen an increase in whooping cough cases this year, with five times more cases being reported compared to this time last year. New York State has the second highest number of cases in the nation currently.

Whooping cough cases have more than doubled this year, and the most vulnerable are young kids and newborns. FOX 10's Steve Nielsen tells us why it's such a dangerous cough, and gives tips on how to prevent it.

California's cases of whooping cough are more than six times as high as last year, and in Los Angeles County, reports of the infectious disease rose by nearly 119%. It reflects a trend seen across the U.

Officials say whooping cough cases are rising in San Antonio and show a 230% increase from the cases reported the prior year.

The coutnry's health ministry said it continues to observe a high number of severe acute respiratory illnesses presenting to the hospitals.
