Nageeye, the Tokyo Olympic silver medalist, edged Kenyan Evans Chebet, 2:07:39 to 2:07:45, to become the first Dutch runner to win New York City. Nageeye, 35, finished fourth, third and fifth in the last three New York City Marathons.

This is the fifth time Linden has run New York, and it was the third marathon of 2024 for her. She was 11th at the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials in February in 2:28:04. In April, she finished 16th in Boston in 2:28:27.

With a strong push over the final 600 meters in Central Park, Abdi Nageeye easily broke Evans Chebet of Kenya and sailed through the finish lane tape of this morning’s New York City Marathon in 2:07:39. Nageeye is the first Dutch runner to win either pro division at New York.
