Blackhawks prospect Anton Frondell scored a huge goal for Team Sweden, pushing them to the Gold Medal game at the World Junior Championships

Rookie Nick Lardis scored in the fourth round of the shootout to give the Chicago Blackhawks a 4-3 win over the Dallas Stars.

Matty Beniers scored the only goal int he shootout to give the Seattle Kraken a 4-3 win against the Vancouver Canucks.

In the shootout – which went six rounds – the Caps scored more than once for the first time all season; Strome and Sonny Milano both connected in the skills competition. But Chicago captain Nick Foligno won it for the Hawks, giving Chicago its first set of consecutive victories since Nov. 15-18 of last year.

Stenberg had a goal in a 6-3 win against the U.S. in the final game of the round robin. Against Finland in the semifinal, in what was a rematch of last year’s semifinal, the 5-foot-11 and 183-pound Stenberg proved to be a threat each and every time he was on the ice.

The Swedish centre decided on a more straightforward approach with the third shootout effort Sunday. Now his country has a chance to capture just its third gold medal at the world junior hockey championship.

Sweden, which seeks its first gold medal since 2012, is 22-20 with two ties in the all-time series against Finland since the inaugural 1977 World Juniors. The last 10 matches between the rivals has been decided by one goal, including Finland's 4-3 overtime victory in the semifinals at the 2025 WJC in Ottawa.
