U.S. Rep. Lisa McClain on Wednesday became the 4th highest-ranking member of Republican leadership in the U.S. House with her election as chairwoman of the House Republican Conference, which represents the entire GOP caucus in the chamber. She also becomes the highest-ranking woman in the GOP leadership.

"The American people have given our party a mandate to lead and pass President Trump ... McClain also won support from the rest of the Michigan Republican delegation, plus some big names like House Appropriations Chairman Tom Cole of Oklahoma.
