In the AI chatbot world, ubiquity is everything. Companies have raced to build desktop and mobile apps for their bots, in order to both give them new capabilities but also to make sure they’re right in front of your face as often as possible.

Google announced Thursday that it has released a new native Gemini app for iOS that will give iPhone users free, direct access to the chatbot without the need for a mobile web browser.

Google on Thursday launched a dedicated Gemini app for the iPhone, giving its marquee virtual helper a bigger role on Apple's smartphone. That also means you'll be able to use Gemini Live, the more conversational version of Gemini, on the iPhone for the first time.
