School in California will now be required to limit or ban the usage of smartphones in schools under a new state law.

This school year, many of the nation's adolescents and teens are sitting in class without the device that can sometimes feel like an added appendage: their smartphones.

Governor Gavin Newsom on Monday signed legislation that directs school districts across the state of California to draft and implement policies that will limit students' use of cell phones during the school day.
