The New Jersey Devils will now be without perhaps their most valuable player as injuries mount. Captain Nico Hischier will miss the Devils' game against the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday night with an undisclosed injury,

When it rains, it pours. The New Jersey Devils are already dealing with an injury to their No.1 goaltender. Add another injury to the list, as the Devils captain left the third period of New Jersey’s tilt with the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night.

With New Jersey Devils captain Nico Hischier out of the lineup, Dawson Mercer will start Monday night's game against the Philadelphia Flyers as the team's second-line center. "To me, (Mercer) was outstanding in the third period the other night in Montreal when we asked him to step into that role," head coach Sheldon Keefe said to NJD.TV.
