MINNEAPOLIS — Thursday is a NEXT Weather Alert day due to the potential for severe storms. After fast-moving overnight storms in the Twin Cities, a cold front is triggering a second round in the evening.
Tornado damage reported after Thursday's severe storms in Minnesota
Damage reports have been filed after tornado activity in northern Minnesota on Thursday evening. Severe storms brought large hail, strong winds and tornado activity to the eastern half of Minnesota starting Thursday afternoon, and weather officials have received two reports of tornadoes to the northwest of Duluth.

"Scattered severe thunderstorms are expected to develop across east-central MN this afternoon and move into western WI this evening," says the Twin Cities office of the National Weather Service.
