An inmate at California State Prison, Sacramento is accused of the attempted homicide of two officers while they were transferring him back to his cell, authorities said Tuesday.

Inmate Ronald Yandell attacked officers with a weapon at California State Prison; CDCR is probing the attempted homicide.

Correctional officers at the California State Prison, Sacramento were attacked by an inmate on Friday, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR). At 8:20 a.m., two officers were attacked while escorting an inmate from the prison’s central health building to their cell.

Ronald Yandell is serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole for first-degree murder and voluntary manslaughter.
