Red flag warnings have finally expired for much of the Los Angeles area as strong winds failed to materialize.

Thursday, 10:30 a.m. PST The Palisades Fire’s containment jumped to 22% while Cal Fire reported 55% containment for the Eaton Fire, 98% containment for the Hurst Fire and 85% containment for the Auto Fire (only a few red flag warnings remain in effect for parts of Los Angeles County and adjacent regions).

Though winds were weaker than predicted Tuesday, firefighting crews awaited the return of dangerous winds that could fuel new blazes.

On Tuesday at 10:18 a.m. a red flag warning was issued by the NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA in effect until Wednesday at 6 p.m. The warning is for Ventura County Beaches, Ventura County Inland Coast, Central Ventura County Valleys,

LAFD Chief Kristin Crowley said the department has staffed all available resources and fire patrols and engines are being strategically placed in the high-fire risk areas of the city.
