Though Louisiana is no longer anticipates a long-awaited, half-billion-dollar budget deficit next year, Gov. Jeff Landry’s administration is asking department leaders to plan for “standstill” budgets next year.

Louisiana State Police bought a small passenger plane for $5.5 million in September that Gov. Jeff Landry has been using to travel around the state.

The Louisiana governor will appear before the U.S. House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure to talk about the state's infrastructure, economy and environment.

Landry promoted Scott Ballard, one of the owners of PJ's Coffee, to chairman, and appointed prominent New Orleans trial attorney and retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. Roderick "Rico" Alvendia to the board that governs the LSU system, including two Shreveport campuses.

Gov. Jeff Landry testified before a congressional committee Wednesday to make a pitch for federal funding for major infrastructure projects and to give context to how important some of the state’s projects are to the nation as a whole.
