An Indigo flight was seen making a risky attempt to land in Chennai airport on Saturday amid extremely severe weather conditions including gusty winds and heavy rains ahead of the landfall of Cyclone Fengal.

Due to adverse weather conditions amid Cyclone Fengal, Chennai airport had suspended its operations till 4 am on Sunday.

The video of the IndiGo flight quickly gained over 100,000 views, with many users reacting to the intense moment.

The viral clip shows the IndiGo flight preparing to touch the ground during heavy rain and strong winds. When the plane’s wheels reach just inches from the ground, it flies off again, aborting the landing.

Cyclone Fengal made landfall as it crossed the Tamil Nadu coast between Karaikal and Mahabalipuram. The cyclone triggered heavy rainfall and strong winds over coastal districts in north Tamil Nadu, flooding low-lying areas and disrupting flights and train services in Chennai.

Due to the impact of cyclone Fengal, many coastal areas witnessed changes in weather with gusty winds and rain.

The storm, the second to develop over the Bay of Bengal this season, packed gusts reaching up to 90 km per hour as it crossed the coastline. The Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai warned of continued heavy rainfall through Sunday,

Chennai and nearby areas experienced heavy rains due to cyclone Fengal, disrupting transport services and prompting evacuations. While no major damage was reported, hospitals were inundated, and operations at Chennai airport were suspended.

Chennai experienced gusty winds and heavy rain on Saturday due to Cyclonic Storm Fengal, causing tree uprooting and waterlogging. Fengal is expected to cross the north Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coast with wind speeds between 70-90 kmph.
