Mainland Chinese director Lou Ye claimed the two top honors – best narrative feature film and best director – at the Golden Horse Film Awards on Saturday in Taiwan with his indie title “An Unfinished Film.

Lou Ye’s Wuhan-set Covid drama An Unfinished Film took top honours at the 61st Golden Horse Awards, winning both best film and best director, while fellow mainland Chinese director Geng Jun’s LGBTQ+ black comedy Bel Ami won a hat-trick of prizes including best actor.

Winners at the Golden Horse Awards in Taipei on Saturday included Best Leading Actress Chung Suet Ying, Best Leading Actor Zhang Zhiyong, Best Director Lou Ye and Best Feature Film "An Unfinished Film.

Singaporean director Chiang Wei Liang has won the best new director award for the film "Mongrel" at the 61st Golden Horse Awards. He was named best new director alongside his co-director, Yin You-qiao, reported CNA Lifestyle.

Now in its 61st year, the Golden Horse Awards, held annually in Taipei, are considered the Oscars of the Chinese-speaking world. This year, "An Unfinished Film" and "Bel Ami" were among the top winners.
