The San Jose Sharks have selected Cole McKinney with the No. 53 pick of the 2025 Draft. McKinney, a center, put up 27 goals and 61 points for the U.S. National Team Development Program this past season.

It’s a departure from the 2020 draft, in which only two of the nine players the Sharks drafted were taller than 5-foot-11 — 6-foot-4 forward Brandon Coe in the fourth round and 6-foot winger Timofey Spitserov in the seventh round.

A future Michigan State hockey player has been selected by the San Jose Sharks in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft. Max Heise was selected by the San Jose Sharks in the fifth round of the NHL Entry Draft on Saturday. The Sharks used the No. 150 overall pick to obtain Heise's rights.
