Alcohol was not involved in the crash, according to the State Patrol. The collision in which nearly two dozen people were hurt is still under investigation.

UPDATE: According to the Minnesota State Patrol, both the driver and the trooper have what are being described as minor injuries. The agency says the trooper was responding to a driving complaint. The Rochester Police Department is investigating the crash.

"We understand that this situation may raise concerns within the community, and we want to assure you that we are committed to a thorough investigation," Colonel Christina Bogojevic said.

Shane Roper, the now-former Minnesota State Trooper charged in a May fatal crash in Rochester, is no longer employed by the organization, Lt. Michael Lee confirmed Friday evening, Sept. 6.

A 25-year-old crashed into a parked police car early Tuesday, causing a chain reaction that damaged other patrol vehicles and injured two people, including an officer, police say. Just after 1 a.m., police in three patrol cars had been providing traffic control for an officer in a fourth car,
