The Oregon Ducks once again remain perched at No. 1 this week while the Ohio State Buckeyes also held onto the second spot in the re-rank. The Texas Longhorns moved up three places to No. 3 followed by the Indiana Hoosiers and Penn State Nittany Lions, who advanced one and two spots, respectively.

Author Chris Vannini dropped the Gators three spots from No. 51 last week to No. 54 after the loss to the Longhorns. That puts Florida between the No. 53 North Carolina Tar Heels and No. 55 Michigan State Spartans — the two schools that bookended them in last week’s re-rank.

The rankings got flipped upside down when Georgia fell flat against Mississippi and Miami couldn't stay perfect when it faced Georgia Tech. Consequently, some teams saw their playoff chances boosted while others are feeling uncertainty in qualifying for the 12-team field.
