The Dow Jones Industrial Average hit a new all-time high on Monday of this week, but its sister index — the Dow Jones Transportation Average — is currently 7% below its high set in November 2021, almost three years ago.

Stocks struggled to get off the mat Monday as uncertainty swirled over the magnitude of the upcoming Fed rate cut – as well as the central bank's outlook for interest rates and the economy going forward.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at another all-time high after recouping its losses from early September. The S&P 500 rose close to its own record, but was held back by losses in Big Tech companies like Apple and Nvidia.
