The Bahamas Chess Federation (BCF) is proud to announce the official roster for Team Bahamas at the 45th FIDE (International Chess Federation) Chess Olympiad, currently taking place in Budapest, Hungary.

The All India Chess Federation (AICF) has been left red-faced because they lost the trophy. The trophy, known as the 'Nona Gaprindashvili Cup,' was awarded to India for being the best contingent in the 2022 edition.

The International Chess Federation has named Armenia’s men’s team as the “Team of the Century.” The awards were presented in an event that took place on the night of Round 8 at the 45th FIDE Chess Olympiad held in Budapest.

The 44th Chess Olympiad, held in India in 2022, marked the first time it was hosted in India. With record participation from 186 nations in the Open and 160 nations in the Womens section, Uzbekistan and Ukraine claimed gold.

After winning eight games consecutively, the Indian men had to settle for a draw in the ninth round of the Chess Olympiad in Budapest. The second-seeded India and defending champion Uzbekistan were involved in a fierce battle,

The draw ensures that India will head into the final two rounds of the Chess Olympiad with a slight advantage over the chasing pack — India have 17 points while the Uzbek team has 15.

India, on sole lead with 17 match points, remains in a commanding position for the gold in the Open section and will face USA in Round 10 on Saturday
