LUCKNOW: Six months is all it took for CM Yogi Adityanath to script a bounce-back for BJP in UP with a spirited campaign that yielded Saturday seven out of nine seats at stake in assembly bypolls, easing the hurt of seeing the party's Lok Sabha tally in the state slip from 62 to 33.

With candidates from the BJP-RLD alliance winning or leading in seven of nine Assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh where bypolls were held, state Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has doubled down on his 'batenge toh katenge' slogan.

The results of the Uttar Pradesh by-elections in nine assembly constituencies have reinforced the dominance of the BJP and its allies, who secured seven seats. The victory reflects Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s aggressive leadership, his emphasis on religious unity, and his appeal to transcend caste-based politics.

BJP won six assembly by-polls, and its ally Rashtriya Lok Dal (RJD) won one seat, while the Samajwadi Party was able to win just two seats out of nine contested.

The nine constituencies for which the votes will be counted include – Meerapur, Kundarki, Sisamau, Katehari, Phulpur, Majhawan, Ghaziabad, Karhal and Khair.
