Stocks posted solid gains as Wall Street put the finishing touches on its best monthly performance of the year. The S&P 500 rose 0.6% while the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.4%. Both indexes closed out November with their best monthly performances of the year.

U.S. stocks were on track to end November with their biggest monthly gains this year, with chip stocks rallying Friday.

The S&P 500 rose by 33.64 points, or 0.6%, to 6,032.38; the index gained 5.7% this month, the most since November 2023. It also tallied its 53rd record close of 2024 on Friday. Th
