Residents of eight buildings on the Upper West Side had no running water for hours on Thanksgiving Eve. A 12-inch water main on Central Park West and West 102nd Street ruptured at 1:39 p.m. on Wednesday.

A water main break on the Upper West Side disrupted subway service on multiple lines Wednesday afternoon.The break happened at 103rd Street and Central Park West at 1:50 p.m. and involved a 12-inch main.

Rescue crews evacuated passengers from at least one stranded subway train after a water-main break halted service on the B and C lines and severely reduced service on the A and D lines.

City crews quickly responded, restoring subway service and providing temporary water access for affected residents, authorities said.
