BERLIN (Reuters) -Americans Taylor Fritz and Ben Shelton defeated Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev 7-6(5) 6-4 in Friday's doubles to draw Team World level with Team Europe at the of the first day of the Laver Cup.

Team World led after Francisco Cerundolo of Argentina topped Casper Ruud of Norway 6-4, 6-4 in the opener of the indoor hard-court men’s tournament that features a format reminiscent of golf’s Ryder Cup.

Team World and Team Europe were level after victories by Argentina's Francisco Cerundolo for Team World and Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece for Team Europe on the first day of the Laver Cup tournament at the Uber Arena on Friday.

Grigor Dimitrov defeated Alejandro Tabilo on Friday to give Team Europe the lead at the Laver Cup in Berlin ahead of the doubles match later on Friday. Dimitrov prevailed 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (7-2) in two hours and 15 minutes.
