Lebanon's Hezbollah fired heavy rocket barrages at Israel on Sunday, with Israeli media reporting that a building had been hit near Tel Aviv, after a powerful Israeli airstrike killed at least 20 people in Beirut the day before.

A Hezbollah missile attack on central Israel has wounded five people and caused extensive damage in the Bnei Brak and Ramat Gan area. The attack on the Tel Aviv district on Monday evening followed Israeli air strikes on central Beirut in the past couple of days.

Israel's military says around 250 rockets have been fired by Hezbollah across the border from Lebanon, marking one of the heaviest bombardments of Israel since fighting intensified in September. Several people were injured and buildings damaged in northern and central Israel, some of them near Tel Aviv, Israel's police said.
