The main dome of the Taj Mahal here witnessed water leakage due to incessant rain for the past three days which inundated a garden on the premises. The purported video of the submerged garden on the Taj Mahal premises went viral on Thursday and caught the tourists' attention.

The plant has emerged between two marble stones and a molding section, with its leaves swaying rapidly in the breeze.

Agra's historical monuments, including the Taj Mahal, have been significantly damaged by continuous rain over 48 hours. The Archaeological Survey of India is investigating water seepage from the main dome and flooding in nearby gardens.

Following the reports of water leakage, a probe began, however, no damage has been found on the main dome even as the garden adjacent to the Taj Mahal remains submerged.

Water leakage from the dome also reached the chamber housing the tombs of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan and his wife Mumtaz Mahal. A video of the inundated garden has been circulating on social media, sparking concern and curiosity among locals and tourists.
