A Met Office amber warning is in place for parts of the Highlands, Aberdeenshire, Perth and Kinross and Angus. It runs from 07:00 to 17:00, when there will be an increased likelihood of severe weather affecting travel and power supplies.

Storm Bert battered Britain with snow, rain and strong winds on Saturday, killing one person and closing several railway lines, bridges and roads. The storm also hit Ireland, flooding roads in the west and cutting power to tens of thousands of customers.

Storm Bert is primed to hit the UK this weekend, bringing with it snow, wind and heavy rain. Several weather warnings are in place, including two rare amber alerts, as the Met Office has issued concerns about travel disruption, power cuts and hazards presented by icy surfaces, especially in rural areas.
