Oracle and AMD expand a partnership with deals in the artificial intelligence sector booming
Oracle and Advanced Micro Devices said Tuesday that they are expanding their partnership with the deployment of 50,000 AMD graphic processing units beginning in the third quarter of 2026 with further expansion to follow.

Oracle also introduced Autonomous AI Lakehouse, a new platform that combines Oracle’s Autonomous AI Database with the open Apache Iceberg table format. The platform is available on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Amazon Web Services Inc., Microsoft Corp.’s Azure, Google LLC’s Cloud and Oracle’s Exadata Cloud@Customer.

That's been a huge boon for GPU makers like Nvidia, but Nvidia's biggest customers have also benefited by renting out those GPUs to companies training large language models and developing new AI applications.
Oracle's Abilene, Texas, data center project for OpenAI will have more than 450,000 Nvidia GB200s when fully provisioned. Announced by Oracle CTO and chairman Larry Ellison during a keynote at the Oracle AI World event, this will use 1.2 billion watts (1.2GW), which is "enough power for one million four-bedroom homes in the United States."
