Mack Brown gave a statement about his departure after coaching his final game as the North Carolina football head coach.

Per On3 Sports, Brown expressed his frustration with North Carolina's administration following the Tar Heel's loss to NC State on Saturday. The school wanted Brown to announce his retirement before the NC State game. Brown didn't want to cause a distraction before the contest, so the program fired him.

A win against heated rival North Carolina State wasn't among them across Brown's final four seasons at the helm, which concluded Saturday when the Wolfpack exploded for 22 fourth-quarter points in their 35-30 win.
