In a statement, Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad, popularly known as Kanthapuram A P Aboobacker Musaliyar, criticised the recent arrest of monk Chinmoy Krishna Das by Bangladeshi police on November 25, claiming that it had triggered widespread violence and heightened tensions in various parts of the country.

Thousands of people from various Hindu organizations took to the streets in multiple Indian cities on Wednesday, protesting against the increasing attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh and demanding the immediate release of spiritual leader Chinmoy Krishna Das.

Bangladesh: A lawyer who had represented ex-ISKON priest Chinmoy Das on the day of his arrest, was “brutally attacked” after the hearing.

Ramen Roy, the advocate who represented Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Prabhu in Bangladeshi court was brutally attacked by protesters and his house was ransacked, ISKCON claimed on Monday. The spiritual organisation said there is a growing danger against religious minorities in Bangladesh and has advised its followers to hide their identity.

ISKCON is yet to issue statement. Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das’s arrest in sedition case earlier this month led to widespread protests in Bangladesh.

In a tweet on Monday night, Radharamn Das, Vice President and spokesperson of Iskcon India, said, "Please pray for Advocate Ramen Roy. His only 'fault' was defending Chinmoy Krishna Prabhu in court."
