All 72 National League clubs have called for the English Football League to introduce an extra promotion place into League Two. The clubs unanimously agreed last week to throw their support behind one of the most significant changes to English football’s structure in recent history,

National League clubs want the EFL to introduce the "three-up, three-down" system between the fifth tier and League Two.

The EFL are sympathetic to the National League's new "three-up" campaign which wants to introduce an extra promotion place into League Two from next season

The EFL board will meet on Thursday amid renewed pressure from the entire National League to increase the number of promotion places from two to three. All 72 National League clubs, which represent the fifth and sixth tiers of English football,

"Rick Parry has often said that ‘the EFL should look down as well as up’, so we’d now like that to happen,” said the National League chair.

The 72 clubs of the National League are pushing the EFL to introduce a third promotion place to allow more clubs a pathway up the footballing ladder.
