Seraph, in Jewish, Christian, and Islamic literature, celestial being variously described as having two or three pairs of wings and serving as a throne guardian of God. In Christian angelology the seraphim are the highest-ranking celestial beings in the hierarchy of angels.
According to Isaiah 6:2, each seraph has six wings—two covering their faces, two covering their feet, and two for flying—symbolizing reverence, humility, and readiness to serve.
Each seraph had six wings. They used two to fly, two to cover their feet—that is, the whole lower half of their bodies—and two to cover their faces (Isaiah 6:2).
